Editor’s Note

palash_royIt happened, finally! ! ! And not only did it happen, it happened in a grand and classy manner. Yes, I am talking about the Realty & More Property
Awards (RMPA) event. Team R&M had been working tirelessly for last three months to make it happen. And the efforts paid off. Not only the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour at the RMPA function were such that no other magazine in the genre has ever been able to invite on its platform, the high-voltage evening was also marked by the presence of who’s who of Delhi-NCR’s realty world. The show took place in the august presence of Chief Guest Gen VK Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, Overseas Indian Affairs, Statistics & Programme Implementation (IIC), Tariq Hameed Karra, Mp, Srinagar, RP Singh, Member, BJP Election Management Committee and Head, Haryana wing, BJP Kisan Morcha, and S Krishna Kumar, Former Minister and retired IAS.

RMPA had constituted an above-board jury, which any realty awards would aspire to have. Also, to avoid the conflict of interest, realty companies were largely left out of the sponsorship categories. Barring one, all the sponsors were from the allied industries, which further enhanced the credibility of RMPA. All this was backed by the grand set-up-the backdrop, the lobby, the bar area – all were par excellence. Brimming with
confidence, we plan to come up with more events of different characteristics with increased frequency, and aspire to be better than the previous one each time. To get an in-depth feel of the spectacular RMPA evening, read our cover story.

The real estate players had kept their fingers crossed, but the banking regulator chose not to tinker with the interest rates this time. RBI Governor, Raghuram Rajan made it clear enough that he knows when and how to act, and also when not to. Developers are not too much surprised with the status quo but some of them are certainly a disappointed lot.

But cheer on some other front – the Government announced the first list of 20 cities chosen for smart makeover. The list, though largely welcomed, had some surprises too. Not only the most populous stateof the country, Uttar Pradesh, failed to mark its presence in the first list, eastern states like Bihar and West Bengal too did not find any representation in it. Also the issue carries a curtain-raiser on the biggest
national business event – the keenly-awaited Union Budget 2016-17. As usual, the real estate sector is forthcoming in voicing its wish-list – the top of which is getting industry status for the sector. Single window clearance and passage of pending legislation like the RERA and GST Bills are the other key demands of the industry.

In our Developerspeak column, Mahagun Director Dhiraj Jain unveils his wish-list for the Finance Minister. Another developer Arjunpreet Singh of Le Solitairian Group showcases his premium projects located on the Yamuna Expressway. KV Developers’ Aman Agarwal stresses on the need for consensus to implement mutually-beneficial policies.

The issue also has your regular reads – home loan rates of some of the leading lenders, prevailingproperty rates of some of the localities in top cities, new residential launches in some of the cities, expert column on Vastu and lastly the monthly horoscope by Bejan Daruwala.
