200 projects in Noida and Greater Noida get notices
The Noida and Greater Noida Authorities on Thursday issued notices to about 200 under-construction realty projects, directing the developers to follow the National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) order to control air pollution.
According to the NGT order issued two days ago, the Authorities can seal a construction site if the developer is violating the Ministry of Environment and Forests’ 2010 guidelines on construction, causing air pollution.
Rama Raman, Chairman of the Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Authorities, said “We have sent a copy of NGT’s order to the realtors for compliance.”
The NGT also directed the authorities to inspect construction sites to check for the violations.
There are around 80 under-construction projects in Noida Extension, where around 3.5 lakh flats are proposed. Around 30 percent of these are nearing completion. There are nearly 200 construction sites in Noida. There are 4,000 under-construction housing projects in Noida and Greater Noida, according to the UP Labour Department.
A recent report of the regional Pollution Control Board has put the PM 2.5 level in Noida at 300 micro-grams per cubic metre (average), which is beyond the permissible limit.
