25,000 DDA flats allocated in biggest-ever housing scheme

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Tuesday held the draw of lots for its biggest-ever housing scheme. More than 10 lakh applicants were in the fray for over 25,000 flats across various categories. This is the first time DDA completed the draw of lots within 45 days.

housing_default_image_2DDA Vice-Chairman Balvinder Kumar said the flats will be handed over to the lucky winners only after they are complete with all amenities. The authority expects to begin the handover of the flat in January.

For successful applicants, DDA will hold a documentation camp at its headquarters, Vikas Sadan in New Delhi. Successful applicants can also collect the demand and allotment letters at the documentation camp.

Successful applicants have the option to surrender the flat before the issue of possession letter from DDA. Allotment will be automatically canceled in case the payment is not made within the prescribed period. The amount deposited will be refunded without interest.

Devina Ghildial, Deputy MD of RICS, South Asia, lauded the transparent manner in which the allotment has been made. In a statement issued to Realty & More, she said, “The allotment of over 25,000 houses in Delhi across categories has now set an example for other development authorities in the country to free the land held under the Government and provide housing to all those in need. In line with the Government’s vision of ‘Housing for All by 2022’, city authorities of big metros and state capitals should follow this as a model to build housing for all”.
