5 New Aerocity Projects to Watch Out For

In India, the concept of developing commercial districts around airports are becoming popular, just like other international metropolises. Aerocities as a concept are growing at a staggering pace in the country. Aerocities operate as self-sustainable commercial ecosystems. Airport management companies and development agencies are getting intrigued by the idea of strategically developing real estate projects in and around the airport’s areas. It can offer great value to both transit passengers as well as affluent urban dwellers.
India saw its first Aerocity in New Delhi during the 2010s, during the CommonWealth Games. Currently there are 9 Aerocity projects spread across 14,000 acres. In the times to come, more will join. Mentioned below are the top-5 Aerocity projects that will draw attention of investors, businesses, end users, etc.
GMR Aerocity, Hyderabad: It will be one of the largest Aerocities in India. The project spread across 1500 acres will be developed in phases. It has dedicated clusters for retail, tourism & hospitality, logistics, manufacturing, etc. Numerous 5-star hotel projects will be built in Aerocity. Already a 292 rooms Novotel Hotel from Accor is operational in the Aerocity. Boston Living is also developing 1500 room co-living space in the region, spread across 11 acres.
Navi Mumbai, Urna: Work has begun on the 740-acre project which will have financial centres, commercial districts, residential communities, retail zones, etc. The mega project is being developed by Adani Airports in partnership with CIDCO. 40% of the project area will be dedicated to develop world class hotels, guest houses, service apartments. Once completed, Navi Mumbai Aerocity will have around ~ 30 hotel projects. Already work is going on hospitality 15 projects. It will also have luxury villa and home projects. The Aerocity will be connected through the metro.
MOPA, Aerocity: The 232 acres Aerocity project will be decked around the newly built MOPA International airport. The project will be adorned with nature resorts, hotels, high streets, malls, convention centres, etc. Similarly, it will have warehouses, manufacturing clusters, office complexes, etc. The commercial district will cater to both, transit passengers as well as Goa-based tourists.
Bangalore Aerocity: In the Devenahalli district near Kempegowda airport, work is going full swing on one of the largest Aerocity district in India. The project is slated to open in 2026 and will comprise around 2 million Sq. Ft of development work. This will include the high street, 775 room hotel project (IHCL), concert areas, commercial complexes, etc. By 2040 the total amount of development is expected to reach 45 million Sq. Ft. comprising medical districts, education districts, multiple hotel projects, residential complexes, concert area (~ 300,000 Ft), etc.
Aerocity, Ayodhya: One of the recently announced projects, it is spread across 150 acres. Located near the Valmiki international project, the project is developed by ADA (Ayodhya Development Authority). The coveted project will consist of 5-star hotels, destination wedding centres, Ayurveda districts, wellness centres, etc.
