A power- packed evening

Real estate news India

At the end of the day, it was an unparalleled  awards show ever hosted by a media house focused on real estate and allied industries. The stage was spectacular; the house brimming with industry representatives, the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour and the Jury in full attendance and the evening unfolding with clock-work precision.

The first-ever R&M Property Awards show hosted by Realty &More magazine broke many a norm and set standards which will be tough for others to emulate for years to come. The proverbial bar was certainly raised, as was promised by the organisers prior to the show.

The very first differentiator at the prestigious RMPA was the high-profile status of the Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour. Gen VK Singh, MoS for External Affairs, Overseas Indians Affairs and Statistics and Programme Implementation (I!C), graced the occasion and, besides giving away the first set of awards, delivered an inspiring speech befitting the event.

Among the Guests of Honour, Tariq Hameed Karra, senior PDP leader and MP from Srinagar constituency, had flown in especially despite his preoccupation with the turbulent political situation back home. Former Union Minister S Krishna Kumar was not only present but also stayed on throughout the function mingling with the realty community and other invitees from diverse fields. Likewise, RP Singh, key strategist in the BJP Election Management Committee & in charge of the Haryana wing of the party’s Kisan Morcha, made himself available all through the mega event. Four eminent members of the RMPA Grand Jury were the other dignitaries present at the function to hand over the awards.

The venue for the splendid evening on January 23 was The Ballroom at the premier five-star Hotel Oberoi in the national Capital. Located in the heart of Delhi and having an iconic status, the venue itself proved to be a major draw.

The huge RMPA stage with resplendent LED backdrop dazzled each and every one the moment he stepped into the venue. As guests settled them selves inside the gracefully decorated hall, audio-video films of the organisers and sponsors were played on the giant screen and soothing background music set the tone for the exciting evening ahead.

The event began with the traditional lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour and Realty & More Editor Palash Roy. After the auspicious start, Roy came on the stage to welcome the dignitaries and the galaxy of guests present. In his short and assertive speech, the R&M Editor profusely thanked the august gathering at the first-ever property awards show hosted by the magazine.

Tracing the history of R&M, Roy was candid enough to admit that had he known that the path ahead was so thorny, he would never have ventured into it. He emphasised that the past two years had been particularly turbulent for the real estate industry and to bring out a magazine, that too uninterrupted, during these tough times was no mean task.

But he was proud of the fact that Realty & More is the only magazine in the genre which has always stuck to the core journalistic values and stayed away from crass commercialism. He was thankful to the real estate community for not only supporting him but also respecting him for this stance.

“We are delighted to receive this award for One Horizon Center and would like to express our sincere thanks to Realty & More. We are committed to constructing world-class developments in India and would like to thank our clients for their patronage.”

Roy said the R&M Property Awards were instituted to strengthen the magazine’s bonds with the real estate industry after it entered the third year of its publication. He also talked about the differentiators introduced by RMPA like confining the sponsorships to non-realty players and constituting an eminent jury to select the winners.

The online polling conducted to choose the awardees was also fair and transparent, he emphasised. Chief Guest Gen VK Singh, in his address, exhorted the real estate developers to ensure that the promises they make to investors and homebuyers at the time of launching a project are kept in their entirety. He said the only way to win the trust of the people is to see to it that no one feels cheated at the hands of developers in terms of timelines and facilities.

Once the high-profile awards ceremony came to a close, it was time to party. The MC announced famous singer Dahek’s entry on to the stage and the whole atmosphere got electrified. The singer (aka Indian Pitbull) rendered a few popular numbers and even those busy at the bar rushed inside to dance to his tunes. A bout of drinking, singing and dancing concluded with a sumptuous dinner following which it was curtains on the mega show. An unusual winter chill notwithstanding, the guests gradually trickled out in the snugness of the glorious moments experienced at the gala awards evening hosted by Realty & More.
