Centre to consider Maharashtra plea for tax concessions

The Centre has asked the Government of Maharashtra to submit a proposal seeking tax concessions for the state’s slum rehabilitation programme and also a proposal for Pradhan Mantri Aawaas Yojana for affordable housing projects.
Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri asked Jitendra Awhad, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister of Housing, to submit a note in this regard for further discussion.
Puri was responding to a submission by Awhad seeking extended support by the Central Government for Maharashtra Government’s slum redevelopment programme.
Both Puri and Awhad were talking as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour respectively, at the ‘Change of Guard’ event organised by National Real Estate Development Council (Naredco)’s West Zone to welcome its new President Ashok Mohanani and felicitate the past President Rajan Bandelkar.
Assuming the leadership role, Mohanani promised to continue with aggressive initiatives for the betterment of the members by working closely with the Government and regulatory authorities.
Mohanani, Chairman of Mumbai-based Ekta World, is a real estate stalwart.
