Court issues warrant against Unitech Director
A bailable warrant has been issued against Unitech Ltd, Director, Sanjay Chandra for non-compliance with a Delhi consumer commission order.
According to a news agency report, the firm has been asked to pay back money to joint buyers who were not given possession of their flats in a proposed project at Greater Noida in UP.
“Issue bailable warrant for a sum of Rs 50,000 against Sanjay Chandra, Director for Judgement Debtor (firm),” Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission bench of member (Judicial) OP Gupta said in the media.
The bench passed the order on a plea moved by complainants Saira Mansoor and Mansoor Ellahi submitting that the firm’s property, which was to be attached as per commission’s earlier order, was already mortgaged with the bank and its two bank accounts did not have money.
Advocate Jalaj Agarwal, who appeared for the complainants, said the Delhi State Consumer Commission had earlier ordered the attachment of Unitech’s property after it failed to comply with the order of July last year.
According to the complaint, Saira and Ellahi had booked a flat in the firm’s proposed project in Greater Noida.
The firm had issued an allotment letter in 2006 by which the purchasers had to get possession of the flat by 2008, the complaint said.
