Delhi-Faridabad Metro Line gets functional; PM takes ride

Delhi-Faridabad Metro Line

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Delhi-Faridabad Metro line that would provide hassle-free journey to around two lakh people who travel from Delhi to Faridabad daily.

According to media reports, the PM was scheduled to fly to Faridabad in a chopper for the inauguration. However, he took a ride from the Janpath Metro Station to Faridabad’s Bata Chowk Station around 10am.

The PM was received by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki at Faridabad. Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Virender Singh, Rao Inderjet Singh and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) chief Mangu Singh also accompanied Modi.

PM also addressed a public meeting at HUDA Ground in Faridabad’s Sector 12. Khattar and Solanki also attended the event.

The Badarpur-Faridabad metro line covers a distance of 14-km via nine stations from Sarai to Escorts Mujesar. Two more stations – NCB Colony and Ballabgarh – will be added in 2017.

The nine stations in the line include, Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector-28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk and Escorts Mujesar. “All these are elevated and located on either side of the Delhi-Mathura Road (NH-2),” said a Haryana Govt. spokesperson.

The frequency of the trains on the route will differ in peak and non-peak hours. While metro trains will run in every 6:40 minutes during peak hours, from 8 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 8 pm, the frequency will be reduced with trains running in every 7:30 minutes.
