Elevated road in Noida for signal-free ride

Noida Authority

The Noida authority on Monday has decided to change the design of a proposed elevated road to be built above the Master Plan 1 road, according to a published media report.

The Noida authority may also increase the length of this 1.5 km stretch that was supposed to be built between the Sector 10/21 intersection and the Sector 12/22-56 T-point.

This road will offer a signal-free journey to commuters, who have to face traffic congestion at present. It will be built between Sector 19/2 -19/3 and Sector 12/22-56 T-point.

The official said, “We are thinking of increasing the length of this elevated road so that we can provide seamless travel on the Master Plan 1 road. Once it is built, there will be no traffic signals on Master Plan 1 road. The elevated road we had in mind did not cover the entire Master Plan 1 stretch so we decided to change the design.”

However, the authority is yet to take a final call on the project and the total length and other details will be finalised once a detailed project report (DPR) is ready.

The authority was supposed to select a private agency to build the 1.5 km elevated road. “But since only two private agencies participated in the bids, we could not select any agency. Now we have decided to change the design,” said the official.

According to the new design, the elevated stretch will be built between Sector 19/2 -19/3 and Sector 12/22-56 T-point.

“Commuters currently face traffic signals at Sector 19/21, Sector 10/20, Noida stadium, Sector 12/22 and Sector 12/22, among others. They will get a huge relief from traffic congestion. Currently, commuters have a harrowing time getting through these crossings. Once this elevated road is built, they will have a smooth ride,” the official said.
