The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Delhi Dynamos Football Club in a bid to strengthen grassroots development programme for sports. To be set up at Shaheed Vijay Singh sports Complex in Greater Noida, the academy will identify and nurture young talent in Uttar Pradesh.
According to a press release, the academy will be managed by GNIDA and DDFC will provide all the technical support. It will become functional from September 1.
“Top players would be regularly scouted by the technical directors of DDFC and inducted into development centres under a scholarship model, ” said Deepak Agarwal, CEO, GNIDA. He added that there was need for such an academy for Uttar Pradesh’s youth to harness their footballing skills and work at the grassroots level.
Adding further, Agarwal said, “We hope to develop the sport and produce future football champions from this academy. We firmly believe that the academy will contribute towards the societal, economic and cultural development of the region”.
The GNIDA CEO hoped that more and more children will take up the sport professionally and benefit from the academy.’
