GST – A structural reform

The constitutional amendment for an early implementation of the landmark Goods and Services Tax (GST) was recently approved by the upper house of the Indian parliament. This bill will be a landmark regulation, as it will remove a plethora of indirect taxes and establish India as a unified market. Once in place, the GST will significantly ease ambiguity around the Indian taxation system by bringing multiple goods and services under one tax rate.
