HARERA Gurugram Cracks Down on Project Delays, Imposes Penalties and Forfeits Deposits

Gurugram, February 11, 2025: The Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (HARERA) Gurugram has ordered the forfeiture of security deposits for non-compliance with registration conditions for six promoters, totalling INR 2.25 crore. HARERA Gurugram has also imposed penalties of INR 25 lakh each on two promoters for non-compliance of the timelines provided under section 4(2)(l)(C) of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. Section 4(2)(l)(C) of the Act of 2016 requires builders/promoters to apply with the authority to seek RERA registration and declare a timeline for project completion.
The penalties were imposed due to the failure to complete the projects within the specified timelines. However, the RERA registration certificates for the realtors will remain in force with new timelines.
HARERA Gurugram is committed to protecting the interests of homebuyers and ensuring the timely completion of real estate projects. The authority will continue to take strict action against developers who fail to meet their obligations under the RERA Act.
