High grade Wire Rods from SAIL-ISP to be another focus product in SAIL basket: Chairman SAIL
New Delhi / Burnpur, November 17, 2018: Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) is working towards a well-planned product reorientation under which the Company is adding several market-driven, new and value added products to its basket. Emphasizing on this Chairman, SAIL Shri Anil Kumar Chaudhary, who is visiting SAIL’s IISCO Steel Plant at Burnpur today, stressed on concentrating to produce high grade and special quality Wire Rods from the state-of-the-art 0.55 Million Tonnes per annum (MTPA) Wire Rod Mill. He said SAIL-ISP is the most modernized plant of the Company with highly cost effective production processes, and it should focus on producing to its potential and attain its rated capacities. He added that the plant has already produced certain special grades of Wire Rods and is in the process of developing medium and high grade Wire Rods which will be suited for the diversified requirements of the industrial sector.
Addressing the ISP collective, Chairman said that the entire workforce of ISP is committed to developing and producing new and value added products. He said such products are not only more market oriented but also provide higher realizations. Production of these high contributing products is a priority for the Company. SAIL-ISP has also recently become the first domestic steel producer to successfully roll the NPB-750 Narrow Parallel Flange Beam. Rolled from the state-of-the-art Universal Structural Mill (USM) of ISP, NPB-750 has more depth than the currently produced beams in the country. Outlining the importance of safety in Plant operations, Shri Chaudhary added that we have to adopt safety as a habit and give it priority.
After his interaction with a cross-section of employees, SAIL Chairman visited the Plant to have a first-hand feel of the facilities and operations and inaugurated new machine shop. He was accompanied by the functional directors of SAIL and CEO, ISP Shri AnirbanDasgupta during his programme at ISP.
Shri Chaudhary’s ISP visit comes as a part of his structured visits to all the Plants and Units of SAIL to make a direct connect with the employees.
