IoT transforms the nature of business
The Internet of Things has changed lives dramatically and for business, particularly, it has been no less than a revolution. Be it healthcare, energy, automotive, manufacturing, mining, aviation, agriculture or power sector, all segments have adopted the IoT in a big measure and are reaping its benefits. As more and more businesses go for this path-breaking technology, the industrial IoT market is set to grow in times to come.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has been a blessing to humanity in all spheres of life. For businesses, it has altered how they design and market their products. Almost every aspect of our lives generates data, which is recorded, transferred, and monitored to provide new insights, increase efficiency, and allow businesses to make informed, and more profitable, decisions.
With the introduction of IoT into people’s daily lives, their purchasing habits have also changed. Consumers expect the products to provide them with insight into minute details, such as a smart watch that provides real-time updates of the body in the mobile app and also recommends diets and check-ups based on the reading of various parameters.
Business leaders are now recognising the value of the Internet of Things in their operations. The IoT is being implemented in a variety of industries, including healthcare, energy, automotive, manufacturing, and agriculture, and has numerous applications such as air tracking, doorbell camera and security system, thermostat, and many others.
As more businesses adopt the Internet of Things, the industrial IoT market is set to expand year after year. Businesses can gain insight into the overall operation of their organisations with the help of IoT. The IoT-based system is intelligent enough to suggest changes that will increase organisational efficiency while lowering overall costs.
The Internet of Things has had a significant impact on industries such as manufacturing, logistics, oil and gas, transportation, energy, mining, aviation, and so on. So much so that a fourth industrial revolution has begun, signalling a new stage in the organisation and control of the industrial value chain.
The transportation industry has made significant investments in IoT technology. Smart IoT sensors in vehicles can help with maintenance scheduling, optimising fuel consumption, ensuring driver safety, and monitoring driving behaviour for insurance purposes. Under conditions of high acceleration, digital recorders are programmed to capture videos and store them in the cloud.
Power utilities were the first to incorporate IoT into their services. Mechanical metres, for example, have been replaced by smart metres, which track and monitor electrical consumption and provide real-time insights to stakeholders. Power grids have also been fitted with smart sensors that track the supply of electricity and locate faults in real time.
With the introduction of IoT, the retail market has also changed dramatically. The intelligent system can predict which products will be in high demand and thus require investment. It can also analyse customer behaviour and forecast what product a customer will purchase at what time of the month or year.
