Maha Housing Minister Atul Save Announces Plans to Build 30 Lakh Affordable Homes

Mumbai / September 6, 2024: The Maharashtra Housing Minister, Atul Save, announced at the Housing and Infrastructure Summit 2024 that the state aims to provide approximately 30 lakh affordable homes by 2030. These homes will be targeted towards economically weaker sections and lower-income groups.
The summit, organized by Elets Technomedia in Mumbai, brought together government officials, industry experts, and policymakers to discuss urban development strategies and innovations.
Save stated in his keynote address that the state is dedicated to providing accessible and affordable housing to all residents. Studies have indicated a shortage of approximately 11 lakh homes. This initiative aims to address this gap between housing demand and supply.

Valsa Nair Singh, Additional Housing Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, emphasized the importance of affordability and sustainability in housing projects. She highlighted the state’s commitment to incorporating green technology and AI-powered innovations to create smarter and more livable cities. Singh also noted a reduction in complaints regarding the housing lottery system due to the implementation of advanced technology. The new online IHLMS system for housing sales eliminates human intervention.

“MHADA’s 75-year journey has been about more than just building homes. It’s about creating communities. Our upcoming projects in areas like Abhyuday Nagar and GTB Nagar aim to bring transformational change to the city’s housing landscape,” he stated.
