Maharashtra to announce ‘Housing for All’ policy soon: Devendra Fadnavis

The Maharashtra Government will announce its own version of a ‘Housing for All’ policy, which will include incentives for developers to build affordable housing, in the next 15 days, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
This policy will be aligned with the Centre’s ‘Housing for All by 2022’ policy.
According to a published media report, to make life easy for the builder community, the state will put all permissions/ clearances required from local bodies, the revenue department, and urban land ceiling online in the interest of transparency, said Fadnavis at a credai conference. Land records will also be put online.
Fadnavis said he was aware of the fact that delays on this count had led to builders facing interest pressures.
Emphasising that builders must come up with affordable housing in view if the huge demand, Fadnavis said they should build 3 lakh affordable houses in Mumbai and the extended metropolitan region in 2016.
The CM warned that he will put a stop to letters of intent being traded under the slum rehabilitation authority if houses are not built.
Referring to the interest of overseas investors in affordable housing, the CM said the Canadian Pension Authority would be investing $2 million in the segment in the state.
