It is particularly meaningful for a large integrated city covering more than 1500 acres of land since we had to ensure that green principles were followed across, including the industrial, residential, social and infrastructure aspects at Mahindra World City, Chennai”, said Sangeeta Prasad, CEO, Integrated Cities and Industrial Clusters, Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited

Mahindra World City, Chennai, was evaluated on four environmental categories as defined by IGBC which included – site selection and planning, land use planning, transportation planning and infrastructure resource management and innovation in design &technology.

MWC, Chennai is a city of many firsts in the journey of sustainability. It has been a pioneer in commissioning an off-grid solar power plant in the state of Tamil Nadu. The landscaped area has used the philosophy of Xeriscaping by planting native plant species which do not consume too much water and are drought-resistant. Rainwater harvesting facilities for the park and recharge pits to collect rain water are imperatives within the city.

Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited is the real estate and infrastructure development arm of the $16.5-billion Mahindra Group.
