MHADA Schedules 8th Lokshahi Din for January 13
Mumbai, December 24, 2024: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will host its Eighth Lokshahi Din on January 13, 2025, at noon at its headquarters in Bandra East. Since its launch in January 2024, Lokshahi Din has resolved over 50 citizen grievances, addressing a wide range of issues related to housing, redevelopment, and tenancy.
This monthly platform, led by MHADA’s Vice President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal enables citizens to directly present their concerns to senior officials. Lokshahi Din has addressed 35 housing-related grievances, including ownership disputes and incomplete documentation; 12 redevelopment issues, such as delayed allocation of flats; and 6 cases related to tenancy in transit camps, including excessive rents.
Many of the grievances addressed during Lokshahi Din had been unresolved for years, with some cases pending for over three decades. These include ownership disputes, redevelopment delays, and issues arising from incomplete documentation.
A number of the resolved grievances highlight the platform’s impact. In one case, a decades-old ownership dispute regarding a flat in Andheri was resolved after a comprehensive review of documents. Another grievance involved delayed flat allocations under redevelopment agreements, where tenants were granted their rightful homes through corrective actions. Additionally, a long-term transit tenant in Worli saw their rent reduced significantly after MHADA reviewed and rectified excessive charges that had been levied for years.
Citizens who wish to participate in the January 13 session must submit their grievances in duplicate using the prescribed format available on https://mhada.gov.in. Applications must include all necessary supporting documents and be submitted at least 14 days in advance of the session.
Only personal grievances will be accepted; sub-judice matters, repeated complaints, and unrelated issues will not be considered.
Jaiswal said, “By providing clear resolutions to complex issues, we aim to strengthen public trust and deliver results that directly improve people’s lives.”
