MNRE Is Confident To Achieve Its Target Of 175 GW By 2022, Says Its JS

The Ministry of MNRE is positive and confident to achieve its target of 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022 because industry is confident for which various policy measure have been initiated and special steps taken in addition to provide financial support for achieving the target, said its Joint Secretary, Mr. Gopal Krishan Gupta.

Speaking at a Conference on “Achieving 175 GW Renewable by 2022 – Journey So Far” under aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today, Mr. Gupta said to achieve the target of 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022, 22 GW bidding would be completed by march and 20 GW end of this year and 30 GW will be bid out in 2018-19 and 30 GW in 2019-20.

“Ministry of Power has issued RPO guidelines which is applicable up to 2019 but we have already made a reference to Ministry of Commerce to issue RPO obligations up to 2022, the target is set for 24% of RPO obligation that is 12% of solar 12% for renewable non solar”, said Mr. Gupta.

In his observation Chairman, Renewable & Alternate Energy Committee, PHD Chamber Dr. Suresh C Goyal said that solar will continue to expand in India at a solid pace, today energy industry wants more funds and tax rate cuts and government should streamlines capital allocation towards creating solar parks and associated infrastructure along with green corridors.

Among others who were also spoke on the occasion comprised Elected Chairman of Global Solar Council, Mr. Pranav Mehta; Member-Planning, Central Electricity Authority, Mr. Pankaj Batra and Principal Director, PHD Chamber, Dr. Ranjeet Mehta.
