Noida Metro to start bus service from April

NMRC

The Noida metro rail corporation (NMRC) on Monday said it will begin a city bus service on 13 main routes from this April. The service will start with 30 new low-floor buses fitted with GPS, according to a published media report.

The service will cover important routes in Noida and Greater Noida, thus providing connectivity between the twin cities. Its objective is to provide a safe mode of public transport to commuters, particularly office goers. The authorities had conducted a survey to identify routes that see a large number of office goers and, hence, are likely to see a good passenger turnout.

The buses would also run on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, starting from Pari Chowk in Greater Noida. The routes will also go through the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) road so that the service can cover Noida’s special economic zone (SEZ), Phase 2 area, and Greater Noida’s Surajpur industrial area said the report.

Rama Raman, MD of NMRC. “We will begin the city bus service with 30 buses. Later, we will provide 100 buses for this facility. We will keep increasing the number of buses depending upon the need. One of the major causes of an increase in pollution levels is the rise in the number of vehicles on roads. We can tackle that with better public transport facility”.

The buses under the service have been specially designed for intra-city travel. For increased comfort, they will have cantilever seats and armrests that will also ensure more room for passengers who are standing, officials said.
