Not cut any tree; directed all contractors to comply with undertaking before the Delhi High Court: NBCC

New Delhi, June 27: Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking NBCC (India) Limited today said that it has not cut any tree and has issued a directive to all its contractors to not cut trees in any of its redevelopment project – Nauroji Nagar, Netaji Nagar and Sarojini Nagar in Delhi in line with undertaking given by it in the honourable Delhi High Court on June 25not to cut tree till July 4.
“We have instructed all contractors carrying out redevelopment of three colonies in Delhi by NBCC not to cut any trees. In the event of any breach by any individual or contractor, they will be held responsible for all consequential damages arising there from including contempt of Court,” a Company spokesperson said.
The media has already reported that Police has not found substance in complaints of tree cutting and hence has not lodged any FIR.
Spokesperson added that NBCC is a responsible and law-abiding CPSE under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and would comply with the orders and directives of the Honourable High Court and all statutory authorities. In case any of the NBCC officials finds any incidence of tree cutting, the Corporation will suo-moto report to the authorities including Police.
The High Court order is well publicised in print and electronic media and if anyone is found violating it, then that individual would be responsible for the same. The law should take its own course in such incident, as NBCC in very uncertain terms issued a formal directive to the effect to every stakeholder within hours of giving the undertaking before the High Court even before receipt of formal order.
