Own charging station at parking lots offers a variety of benefits

As more and more people are now switching over to EVs, the charging infrastructure has also started getting increased focus. Although public charging stations are now available at various locations across the country, having one’s own charging station at the parking lot of home or office has multiple advantages.
Electric Vehicles (EVs) are gaining popularity across the country with the passage of time. Sales are picking up as more and more people are showing preference for this green mode of transport. However, a complete transition from fossil fuel- based vehicles to EVs will remain a far cry until a robust charging infrastructure is developed. A large number of EV charging stations are required to be installed throughout the country to reduce the range anxiety of potential consumers.
The idea of having one’s own charging station at home is rather overwhelming for those who have all along relied upon petrol and diesel. Although EV charging stations are now being installed across the country; at homes, offices, commercial complexes and highways, having the one in the parking lot of your home or office has manifold advantages.
- A complete transition from fossil fuel- based vehicles to EVs will remain a far cry until a robust charging infrastructure is developed. A large number of EV charging stations are required to be installed.
- While home EV chargers use the same electricity that powers the consumer’s home appliances and also have a fixed minimal charge, public EV chargers require one to pay a hefty price.
- If, for some reason, the EV has not been fully charged at home, the consumer can make use of the charger installed in the parking lot of office. The person doesn’t need to spend any extra time for charging.
- It rules out the possibility of falling prey to any criminal elements while spending long hours at a public charging station. The safety of home is always a preferred option.
No doubt, public charging stations provide fast charging but home charging stations are much more cost-effective. Most EVs come with a standard Level-1 charger that takes around six to eight hours to charge an EV fully. Moreover, while home EV chargers use the same electricity that powers the consumer’s home appliances and also have a fixed minimal charge, public EV chargers require one to pay a hefty price, which is set by the third-party vendors.
An EV charger installed in the home/office parking lot also offers abundant convenience. A consumer can plug in the EV at night, have a peaceful sleep and find the vehicle fully charged when he gets up in the morning. If, for some reason, the EV has not been fully charged at home, the consumer can make use of the charger installed in the parking lot of his/her office. The person doesn’t need to spend any extra time for charging as on an average one spends seven to eight hours at the workplace. The hassle of waiting and charging time at public charging stations is, thus, averted.
More importantly, home EV charging station is a safer option than the public EV charging station. For one, it rules out the possibility of falling prey to any criminal elements while spending long hours at a public charging station. The safety of home is always a preferred option. Secondly, the home charging station is regularly inspected by a certified electrician and any issue regarding wiring etc. is swiftly taken care of, thereby, eliminating the possibility of any mishap.
EVs showcase cutting-edge technology and offer a solution to one of the most pressing problems in the world – the rising pollution levels. And for the smooth and hassle-free running of an EV, installing a charging station in the parking lots of homes or offices brings both, financial and environmental benefits, and also offers long-term advantages.
