SAIL employees won more than 30% Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar for performance year 2016

Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) has won more than 30% prestigious Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar (VRP) for the performance year 2016. Today in a function held at SCOPE Complex, Delhi, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) SAIL Shri Saraswati Prasad felicitated SAIL employees who have won 9 out of the total 28 VRP awards. Out of the total 139 awardees, 48 awardees are from SAIL. On this occasion Director (Finance) Shri Anil Chaudhary, Director (Projects & Business Planning) Dr. G. Vishawakarma, Director Commercial Ms. Soma Mondal, Director (Personnel) Shri Atul Srivastava, Director (Technical) Shri H N Rai were also present.

Before this, yesterday Hon’ble Minister of State, Labour & Employment (Independent Charge), Govt. of India Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar felicitated the awardees in a function organized at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. These awards were announced on13th August, 2018.

Out of total 48 awardees of SAIL, 42 belong to SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant and the rest 6 are from SAIL’s Salem Steel Plant. Estimated savings from these award winning projects/suggestions is approx Rs. 14.6 Cr. per annum as recurring and around Rs. 10.8 Crs. as one time.

CMD SAIL congratulated the awardees for their efforts and achievements. On this occasion he said, “These awards are not won by only employees but also by their families, because any achievement of any person is a mirror of their family’s support and dedication.” He further added, “These awards reflect the work culture of the SAIL. I feel very happy to be part of all of you. I would like to mention here that the improvement in financial performance during the FY’2018 and its continuity in Q1 of FY’2019 is backed by our employees who possess an innovative streak and zeal to exhibit creativity.  It is also due to our employees’ involvement, ownership and contribution in the field of enhancing productivity and efficiency in their work area.”

Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar (VRP) is a very prestigious National Award given by the Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India in association with Directorate General Factory Advice Service & Labour Institutes (DG-FASLI). VRP is awarded in recognition of outstanding suggestions given by workers or group of workers and implemented by the management, resulting in improvement in quality, productivity and working conditions such as safety, health and environment conservation in the Industrial Organization.
