Training and Certification Mandatory for Registration of Agents in UP RERA
Lucknow / Gautam Budh Nagar, August 1, 2024: UP RERA, taking into account the important role of the real estate agents and associated lack of skills, discipline and sense of responsibility in many of them, has decided to impart ‘three-day training’ to them and also provide certificates on successful completion of such training. This training is compulsory for already registered agents also whose registrations can be cancelled if they fail to successfully complete this training within a year. No individual or agency can obtain registration to work as real estate agent without successfully completing such training.
RERA was initially obtaining online applications of agents from Lucknow for enrollment in the training and has now directed all the registered agents from the districts of Lucknow, Gautambudh Nagar, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Moradabad to enroll themselves for training by way of online application on the website of U.P. RERA. U.P. RERA has signed MoUs with reputed training institutes for organizing the training programme of agents and the agents who are successful in the examinations following the training will given certificates under the signatures of the Secretary.
A press release issued by UP RERA says that it wants that agents should inculcate proper work ethics, they should have sufficient knowledge of their work, sufficient knowledge of RERA Act, RERA Rules, other relevant laws and rules, orders and directions of U.P. RERA. They must also have proper knowledge of the consequences of the default by the promotes and the agents in the matters of marketing and promotions, bookings and payments, execution of BBAs, payment schedules and registries of property, etc as well as the rights of the allottees under the RERA Act. RERA has designed the training material with a view to address these issues, among others.
Sanjay Bhoosreddy, Chairman, U.P. RERA said, “there are about 7000 agents registered with U.P. RERA and that RERA has been closely monitoring the work and conduct of the agents and we have come across such instances where the home buyers have suffered because of the lack business ethics and professionalism in such agents. We thought that with a good short-duration training and orientation course, their skills can be suitably upgraded. Such trainings will benefit the agents as well as other stake holders like the allottees and the promoters. The new arrangement is also intended to ensure that the people with tainted antecedents are not able to enter the sector and cast their shadows on the market. U.P. RERA will continue working to enhance the security of the investment of the home buyers and infuse right type of investment mood in the real estate sector.”
