Yadav proposes YEIDA area as smart city

Noida and Greater Noida are already aspiring to be included in the smart city contest. Cities are also working to accomplish parameters outlined in the guidelines that will help them achieve mission objectives for being declared a ‘smart city’.
The smart city project was announced in July 2014 at the BJP-led Government’s first Union budget. The Centre has allocated nearly Rs 7,000 crore for the programme.
Urban centres to be developed as smart cities will be selected through a ‘city challenge’ competition. The final selection will be done via a process of elimination, with cities selected only on merit.
Proposed cities are to be graded on parameters like creditworthiness, power supply, water, revenue generation, municipal planning and partnerships they can form.
