YEIDA again changes route of Metro alignment

Delhi metro

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has again changed the route of the proposed Metro alignment between Greater Noida and YEIDA area.

According to a media report, after a meeting held with DMRC officials last week, a new 20-km proposal has been finalised between the zero point of the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida and YEIDA’s Sector 20.

The Metro is proposed to run parallel to the Yamuna expressway. A techno-economic feasibility report (TEFR) for the proposed track is expected to be ready by December.

In June this year, the former CEO of YEIDA had proposed a 38-km Metro track to be a link between Knowledge Park II in Greater Noida and Jewar. The DMRC had then worked out a proposed alignment along a 130-metre-wide road along the Yamuna e-way.

Officials said the new TEFR should take about three months to prepare. “The report will study in detail the proposed Metro route alignment, the current status of the route, number of stations required and the estimated cost of putting the track in place”.

If all goes according to plan, the Greater Noida-YEIDA Metro line could be commissioned by 2019, officials said.

In February last year, YEIDA had proposed a 20.6-km Metro rail route between Greater Noida and Dankaur. The proposed track was expected to run along the Yamuna expressway between Pari Chowk in Greater Noida to Sector 22 in YEIDA area.
