YEIDA hands over land for electronic cluster

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Thursday handed an allotment letter to Uttar Pradesh Electronic Corporation Limited (UPECL) for setting up an electronic manufacturing cluster (EMC) in its area, according to a report published in the media.
Officials said YEIDA has already received Rs 11 crore towards allotment from UPECL for setting up the EMC along the Yamuna e-way. With land formalities to be completed within the next month and ground work in six months, manufacturing of electronic products, including smartphones, could start within two years.
YEIDA officials and Bhupendra S Chowdhary, Managing Director, UPECL, and state Special Secretary IT, also met 35 investors during a pre-expression of interest (EoI) meeting for the selection of a special purpose vehicle for development, operations and maintenance of EMC.
“About 15 companies have approached us for setting up their units,” said a senior official. “Of these, seven will be accommodated in the 100-acre project for which we have invited the EoI. The rest will be accommodated in an additional 100 acres,” he said.
