YEIDA’s 5000 residential flats receive green certificates

Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Friday received a green certification from Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) for its 5,000 residential flats in Sector 22D for middle- and low-income groups.
According to a published media report, they will be available for possession in March 2016. The apartments were launched under two different schemes in 2013-14.
“These are environment-friendly affordable homes,” said YEIDA senior official. “They will promote health, conserve natural resources, provide easy access to services and save residents hundreds of rupees every year in energy costs,” he said.
He also said the flats have been installed with rainwater harvesting systems, low-flow water fixtures, a sewage treatment plant to recycle wastewater, rated pumps and motors to conserve energy, charging facility for electric cars, drip irrigation, and the roofs have been painted with solar heat reflective paint, all fulfilling IGBC norms.
