Noida Metro track to run 2m above ground
“It would have cost Rs 50 crore to shift this line. So we decided to keep the Metro track
just two metres above ground for a length of about 200 meters. Once this is done, the power lines overhead would pose no problem,” said GP Singh, NMRC’s executive director.
NMRC has also started a survey to ascertain the exact number of trees which will need to be shifted or relocated because of the Metro work. An estimate puts the number at 3,000 trees being situated along the entire route. “Trees falling on the route will be shifted or relocated as per norms,” said Singh.
Officials said that work on the 28km Noida-Greater Noida Metro link is scheduled to begin by the end of March, and is expected to be complete by June 2017. The total cost of the project has been estimated at Rs 5526 crore.
