NDRF, NIDM cells in Noida soon
Noida authority chairman Rama Raman and NP Singh, the district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar said all the high-rises in the district would be inspected by experts to assess the safety of these structures.
Raman said an NIDM centre would be set up in Greater Noida where education and training would be imparted to trainees, including citizens on dealing with disasters. “One NDRF team will permanently camp in Phase II, Noida. Noida authority will allot a plot of land measuring 10,000 square feet for the purpose in 15 days,” he added.
Raman also said it had been made mandatory with immediate effect that construction of any building, particularly high-rises would be undertaken only under the super-vision of a structural engineer. In case of any non-conformity, the structural engineer certifying the building earthquake resistant would be held responsible.
A 24X7 disaster management cell would also be set up, which will have representatives from the district administration, police, fire department, industries, and resident welfare associations.
