CBRE facilitates bid for Chennai MMLP
November 11, 2022: CBRE South Asia Pvt. Ltd, has facilitated the award of the bid for Chennai Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP). The DPR was prepared by consortium of Howe Engineering India and CBRE South Asia Pvt.
NHLM has recognized Reliance Industries Ltd. as the highest bidder for managing, operating, and maintaining the MMLP at Chennai for a period of 45 years.
NHLM had received three bids for the Chennai MMLP, and out of the three bids, two bidders technically qualified for financial opening. The Model Concession Agreement for MMLPs will be the Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) model. CBRE and Howe Engineering are consultants for the Chennai project. 35 MMLPs are being implemented by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to be developed under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The foundation stone of the MMLP project was laid by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, earlier in May this year. As part of the Government’s visionary Gati Shakti-National Master plan, Chennai MMLP is strategically located at Mappedu, the heart of the auto cluster of Sriperumbudur in Chennai.
The MMLP in Chennai is expected to be a cutting-edge facility with smart technologies that will address the long-standing “last-mile” delivery difficulty. The MMLP will improve the country’s logistics sector by lowering overall freight costs and time, optimizing warehousing costs, reducing vehicular pollution & congestion, and improving the tracking and traceability of consignments.

These MMLPs are positioned to be an enabler of committed long-distance leads and intermodal transport within the influence region of the project. It would serve as a gateway for transshipment, consolidation, and distribution, allowing Hub and Spoke advantages to be realized.
