Gujarat to host 13th edition of IGBC’s Green Building Congress


The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), a part of the CII, in its efforts to further advance the green building movement in the country, is organising the 13th edition of Green Building Congress 2015 (International Conference & Exhibition) from November 19 to 21 at Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
According to a press release, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Forest & Environment Department of the Government of Gujarat and Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) are supporting the Green Building Congress 2015.
Dr Prem C Jain, Chairman, IGBC, underlined that, sustainable buildings have been the way of life in India for centuries. All the ancient structures were skillfully built, using locally available resources and incorporating features which are in harmony with nature. Going the greener way is intrinsically imbibed and is part of our ethos, he added.
Dr Jain said that presentations and discussions at the Congress would be focusing on how to take forward the national agenda of ‘Green, Smart & Healthy Cities’. The event will also discuss on how to tap emerging growth opportunities, he added.
Arun Bhatia, Chairman, IGBC – Delhi Chapter, underlined that, today stakeholders are convinced that green buildings make good business sense and in the process are embracing green buildings as a way of life. He added that, green building movement has enabled a wonderful market transformation in the country.
Green Building Congress 2015 will showcase over 100 innovative green technologies which are ecologically superior and economically viable.
