Saint-Gobain’s relief steps in Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian inaugurated an oxygen generation plant and 3D printed doffing unit at Omandurar Medical College and Hospital in Chennai.
The minister also virtually inaugurated the 3D printed doffing unit installed at the Government Headquarters Hospital, Kanchipuram and virtually laid the foundation stone for the doffing unit coming up in Government Medical College and Hospital, Thiruvallur.
According to a press release, these were donated by Saint-Gobain as part of its COVID relief support. The minister, said the release, highly praised Saint-Gobain India for stepping up and complementing the efforts of the Government during these testing times.
The release said the oxygen plant will cater to around 200 beds at a time. This fully-automated plant costing Rs 2.5 crore has been airlifted from France. The company is also donating another plant, sourced locally from India costing Rs 75 lakh for IRT Hospital at Perundurai, Erode district.
The doffing unit will support frontline health workers more effectively in their self-sanitisation processes. It is spread across an area of 150 sq. ft. and is designed using advanced concrete 3D printing technology that saves time, energy, and cost.
