Yamuna Expressway toll rates hiked again
In the second rate revision in two months, the toll for cars using Yamuna Expressway for a one-way trip to Agra from Greater Noida has been increased by Rs 30 from April 1.
Jaypee Infratech, the concessionaire of the expressway, said this was technically not a toll hike but withdrawal of a discount that had been offered to vehicles since 2012. Officials of the company said the revision has been approved by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and notified by the State Government.
The new toll rate for cars is Rs 360 while it is Rs 175 (up by Rs 10) for two-wheelers for a one-way trip to Agra from Greater Noida. For buses and trucks, there is no change in the rate, which continues to stand at Rs 1,150. The toll for mini-buses and other LCVs has also been hiked by Rs 15 to Rs 565.
The expressway has three toll plazas located at Jewar, Mathura and Agra.
A Jaypee spokesperson said, “Commuters traveling to Jewar are charged a toll for 0km to 48km. The rate for this section of the expressway has not been increased for two-wheelers. For four-wheelers like cars or jeep and light commercial vehicles, it is now Rs 105 and Rs 165 respectively”. He added, “The rates for two-wheelers for the Mathura section (48km to 109km) has also not been enhanced but the fee for four-wheelers in this section is now up by 3.8 percent to Rs 135.”
Rates for vehicles traveling along the Agra section (109.41km to 164.3km) will have to pay a toll of Rs 60 instead of Rs 50 for two-wheelers, 20 percent is higher for four-wheelers and 5.5 percent higher for light commercial vehicles.
