Steel Minister felicitates sportsperson winning Champion’s Run
New Delhi: Hon’ble Minister of Steel, Shri Chaudhary Birender Singh today felicitated the sports players who are the winners of Champion’s Run. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister outlined the importance of sports for a healthy and fit life saying that sports helps in both professional and personal development. Mentioning Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision for Sports, Shri Birender Singh reiterated that India is a young country and that youth participation should also be visible and encouraged in the field of sports. Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Ms. Urvilla Khati and Chairman, SAIL, Mr PK Singh were also present during the ceremony.
The 8th Champions Run 2017 was jointly organized by Health Fitness Trust and Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India on 17th September 2017 at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat, New Delhi. The race was organized with the support of around 150 race volunteers from health Fitness Trust, Run For Life along with the help of race director Dr. Sunita Godara, former Asian Marathon Champion. Around 500 Runners participated in the programme. The Minister had announced special awards for three international women boxers namely, Ms Sweety Boora (World Ranking 2), Ms Pooja Rani (World Ranking -6) and Ms Jyoti Grewal (Int’l Medal Winner) and four winners including two women and two men in both categories namely, Ms Reena , (Rank 1, Female Category), Ms. Ankit Kumari, (Rank 2, Female Category), Mr. Pramod Chahar, (Rank 1, Male Category) and Mr. Deepak Negi, (Rank 2, Male Category). All of the above seven were presented with cash award of Rs 11,000/- each, today by Hon’ble Minister.
