DDA to create fund for maintenance of over 25k flats on offer on Aug 25
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has decided to create a corpus fund for the lifetime maintenance of its flats on offer.
This fund will be provided for all the 25,600 flats it is going to offer as part of the 2014 Housing Scheme, which is slated to be launched on August 25.
According to reports in the media, DDA Vice-Chairman Balvinder Kumar, said, “We will be forming a corpus of Rs300 crore for the maintenance of these flats and will charge Rs1.3 lakh extra from allottees for it. He further said, “DDA will itself take care of the maintenance work for 30 years. After that, the money will be handed over to the Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) and the area’s DDA executive engineer for maintenance”.
The 2014 housing scheme, which was announced in December last year, was earlier expected to be launched on August 15 but has been postponed for 10 days. Most of the flats in the scheme are the one-bedroom type with a carpet area of 28 square metres and will cost between Rs 14 to Rs 15 lakh.
“We will ensure that 80 percent of the flats are reserved for people residing in Delhi for which applicants would have to give a proof of residence. Also, allottees won’t be able to sell these flats for the first five years after they get possession”, Kumar was quoted having told the media.
A large number of EWS flats are on offer in this scheme, many of which have also been built for the DDA by a leading private developer.
