New Delhi, June 5: At the global World Environment Day 2018 function held today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, Dr. A. K. “By the year 2022, NBCC will target to ensure zero discharge of waste by recycling of water, solid waste including plastic waste, construction and demolition waste,” said Dr Mittal while taking pledge along with a select group of Indian heads of global FMCG giants like ITC, HUL, Proctor and Gamble as also CMD of state-owned ONGC.
“As a Government entity and construction leader, NBCC will lead by example ensuring total adoption of environment friendly and sustainable technologies to create zero energy infrastructures in line with India’s global commitment,” Dr Mittal said.
The year 2022 is important as India would celebrate its 75th Independence Anniversary and NBCC would use dry technology, modular products and composite cement and steel technology at its projects to make these ‘Green’ and dust free, setting new standards for the sector, Dr Mittal said.

Since it began in 1972, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach. The World Environment Day is celebrated to take ownership of the environment and actively engage in the protection of our planet Earth.
On this occasion, NBCC also put on display the model of under construction environment-friendly World Trade Centre at Nauroji Nagar New Delhi, foundation stone for which was laid only last month by Hon’ble Vice President Shri Venkiah Naidu.
This apart, NBCC also set up its own stall at the exhibition centre to showcase its technology and construction prowess with a clear message that the company says “no” to use of plastics at all its workplaces and construction sites.
The occasion was organised by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change jointly with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
